Candles account for the second largest use of waxes in North America, after packaging and package coatings.  An estimated 1 billion pounds of wax are used in the candles sold each year in the United States.

Candles burn with a yellow flame due to the presence of carbon in the wax.  There is no such thing as a soot-free candle wax; all organic compounds will emit some carbon (soot) when burned due to incomplete combustion. Sooting is primarily a factor of wick length and flame disturbance.

In candle-making, different types of products require different blends  of waxes.  “Stasis” is the Clarus trade name for container candle blends.  “Noble” is the Clarus trade name for votive candle blends.  “Majestic” is the Clarus trade name for pillar candle blends.  “Braidcoat” is the Clarus trade name for wick wax blends.
